During 2020 my life changed drastically. My father died and it was my second parental death in 1 year. During the pandemic, brutal murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and others, including the death of RBG, and the inauguration of Kamala Harris as the elected woman VP, and also a woman of color, I became very interested in the Black Lives Matter movement. I tried to create a series celebrating myself during the pandemic (holding the blues), and women of color whom I deeply admired. My performance/photoshoot dressed as RBG and my friend Jenee Jefferson dressed as Breonna Taylor, both in clothing that I made, was also part of this series of coming together, regardless of race, to celebrate and honor those of color who unjustly died or whom are living and showing strength and success through their impressive perseverance and dedication.
